WE RECEIVE VARIOUS QUESTIONS FROM INTERESTED COMMUNITY MEMBERS ABOUT FLEF AND HOPE THAT THE INFORMATION PROVIDED BELOW WILL ALLOW YOU TO DECIDE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE NOMINATION PROCESS. AS WITH MOST THINGS, THE BENEFITS FAR EXCEED THE WORK INVOLVED, SO PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND. IT'S A WONDERFUL WAY TO GIVE BACK TO THE CHILDREN AND THE COMMUNITY.
Becoming a member of the FLEF board of trustees is a 3-year commitment.
A monthly meeting is held to keep everything in motion. It is imperative you can be part of those meetings, as it's the best way to keep the lines of communication open, and helps avoid something slipping through the cracks.
Our Grant Nights take place on two additional evenings per year. On these nights, teachers and administrators make formal presentations to our board to request funds for "outside the box" teaching and other opportunities. This grant process is the foundation of our organization and why we work so hard to raise money throughout the year.
Each year, we have a couple of large fundraisers and several smaller events. Your participation and involvement will be required for these events. For example, our largest event is our Annual Gala Dinner Dance in the spring. You would be asked to solicit a few donations for the night, help with set-up/clean-up and assist at the event.
For the Annual Gala Dinner Dance, each trustee is given approximately 20 tickets to sell for our 50/50 raffle.
Over the course of the three-year term, it is expected you would chair at least one event or take on another important task. Not everything we do is so time-consuming (e.g., Back to School Fundraiser at the Town Fair, snow tubing event at Campgaw, other community outreach events). There also are opportunities for trustees to assist with managing the distribution of raffle tickets, coordinating grant information and related paperwork, or helping with our website and the dissemination of information.
ALL OF OUR ACTIVITIES ARE A TRUE TEAM EFFORT, WITH EVERYONE PITCHING IN TO MAKE THE ORGANIZATION AS SUCCESSFUL AS IT IS. IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED, I WOULD LOVE TO EXPLAIN THE NOMINATION PROCESS AND ANSWER ANY OTHER QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND WE CAN ARRANGE A CALL TO DISCUSS.
